So, there's a ton of blog posts queued up in my Drafts waiting for the final photo's to be uploaded...so, why I am posting something new? Well, my next project is going to take quite a few months to complete as there's a ton of pieces to put together and I haven't quite got a plan!
Let me take you back a few days, I was just browsing through the internet looking for something for my Dad's trainset as a Father's Day present when this image caught my eye.
Now, to anyone else this might just be a Historical Church exactly as the designer from Scalecast intended, but then I saw this one...
Together, to me at least, they scream the 'Great Hall' at Hogwarts. I've collected quite a few wizarding world design books and they tell me that the Great Hall is based on one of the halls at Christchurch, Oxford and the actual size is approx. 140 feet. The model at the Warner Bros. tour in London is 1:24 scale, and the moulds from Scalecast is OO gauge, which is 1:76 scale...so quite a bit smaller thankfully!
I'm basing my Great Hall design on the Stone Church plans on the Scalecast website. This build requires 8 separate mould sets, so you can see why it will take a while to complete as I'll only be buying one or two a month until I have the full set. Some of the moulds are available as a set, which could be a slightly cheaper option, but it depends on availability.
There's also a medieval castle design from Scalecast's predecessor site - Linka - but I'm not certain if the all moulds in this older design are even available in the newer Stone range. There is a hint on the Scalecast site that a castle will be available in the British Heritage range but no date has been publicised as yet.
