A Sneaky Peak...

A film that I watched over and over again growing up was 'The Neverending Story'. One of my favourite characters was Falkor the Luck Dragon.

I've made a few attempts over the past year or so to crochet my own Luck Dragon, but the patterns never seemed to work up quite like the images provided...one past attempt ended up looking like a deformed crocodile, perhaps it was just me misreading the pattern, I really don't know!

Just this week I discovered another pattern on Etsy, this one from Toni Davenport of Turtle & Bird Creations. This Falkor is worked up in small pieces, rather than one long piece from one of the other patterns I've purchased (Falkor The Luck Dragon by LauraLyeCreations).

I started with the head portions first, as this is the part I had most difficulties with previously, working up the separate head, muzzle, mouth, ears and eyebrow pieces and then started putting them altogether.

I then went over the ears with some chenille wool to create a fluffy effect before separating the strands of hair around his mustache and fluffing them up with a wire brush.

I'm loving the way that Falkor is starting to come to life already. Stay tuned to see how the body progresses...
